Rekira 2025

I'm about to unveil my latest 3D models of my original kaiju, Rekira! Two variants made with the same model; a dragon variant and a bipedal variant. This is the first time since 2008 that I decided to make a fully bipedal version. These are the best models yet! I'm impressed with both versions. Made in Blender.

First Rekira CG work of the year: Rekira Flying Over the Dawn

At last, the first full-quality Rekira CG work of 2014! Here's Rekira flying over a warm dawn, done in Blender, with text added in FireAlpaca. This is the first official look at the new Rekira V3 Beta, completed last night. (Same model as V3, different physique.) There'll be even better pics of Rekira V3 Beta to follow!

2024 - The Year of the (Dog) Dragon

My first work of the year, and a convenient one: 2024 is the Chinese astrological year of the Dragon, and my original kaiju Rekira is, partly, a dragon (combined with a dog)!

Drawn on tablet in FireAlpaca.

Rekira V2 Test Pictures from 2021!

Before I post the latest development for Rekira the Super-Monster, enjoy these test pictures for the previous Rekira V2 (Rekira 2021) figure! All rendered on Blender in mid-to-late August 2021, after finishing the figure.

Ray effect was hand-drawn on tablet in FireAlpaca.

Some new Rekira art.

A collection of recent artwork for my original kaiju, Rekira! All of these were done on tablet in FireAlpaca.

Done on November 23rd (and finished on the 25th), here's a stylized 1950s-style "stencil" art of Rekira.

Next is another illustration I did for fun. A pencil/watercolor-style Rekira illustration from earlier, September 29th.

Finally, an even older illustration. A rough, abstract, silhouette-style ad poster of the Rekira project I have in production. Dated July 27, this one was done while my family and I were vacationing at a relative's home in Tampa, Florida.

Happy 22nd, Rekira!

22 years ago this Wednesday was when I began work on Rekira the Super-Monster!  Here are two designs I did this year:
This one was earlier this year, back when I was still getting used to FireAlpaca.  It’s a new variant of the Chinese dragon/dog-style design, which I can do better, like the one below...
The dog variant, which I started on Wednesday and finished in FireAlpaca the next day (by which point my skill improved)!  That’s quite a difference.

Note the simplified "Hydrogen Lamp" on the forehead.  (I like how it blends in with Rekira's stripe, like an "X" formation!)  Expect that on all designs now.  :)

Happiness is... Hugging a Warm, Fuzzy Friend.

After playing my Snoopy Vs. the Red Baron PC game for the umpteenth time (it's one of my favorite games), after using two favorite playable characters in the "Dog Fight" mode (and it's always a comfort whenever they're on the same team), I just felt like drawing this.  Also because, thinking of Snoopy Come Home (Mendelson-Melendez/Cinema Center Films; 1972), I always felt that Snoopy and Peppermint Patty were a great couple.  :)

Drawn this morning on tablet in Photoshop.

Retro Cats & Dogs

I really enjoyed doing this one. Done on February 2, 2009, this collection of retro-style cartoon cats & dogs was inspired by Dakin's Dream Pets toy collection from 1957 to 1972. (Dream Pets were originally from Japan. They were these colorful velveteen stuffed animal figures. Dakin ordered a train set from Japan, and the Japanese company secured them with velveteen dolls, which ended up getting more attention than the train sets! There have been 2,000 Dream Pets made from 1957 to 1972. 24 of them were reissued in 2004.)

This was done while on vacation in the Outer Banks (needless to say, just days after my Grandma's passing). I did a pencil sketch first on New Year's Day, and then traced it over with Crayola colored pencils. I was really pleased with how it came out! I'd love to do more like this.

Below is my life drawing of Dream Pet Lucy Lamb, which I did a day later. I originally featured it in my older Fan Art on Parade post.

Rekira Halloween poster 2007

Despite being a day or two early, I present this Halloween drawing, which I did on October 31, 2007. Here, my monster Rekira pays tribute to Snoopy's famed WWI Flying Ace character, as he battles the Red Baron! This can also be seen on my deviantART site. Done in less than 90 minutes, with Crayola colored pencils and slight penciling. Note that I went for the look of a retro-Japanese movie poster of the 70s!

Happy 60th Anniversary, Snoopy!

Just 2 days ago, it was already the 60th Anniversary of the late, great Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts comic strip (October 2, 1950). Today is the 60th Anniversary of the very first appearance of that famous beagle Snoopy, in the third Peanuts strip published (October 4, 1950).

Snoopy is my favorite character of all time next to Godzilla.

The following drawing is something I quickly did to celebrate this occasion. I used Photoshop and my Bamboo Fun tablet to do this.

Happy 60th Anniversary, Snoopy!
